Campus Police Officer

The Campus Police Officer performs a full range of assigned law enforcement duties to maintain security and order on a technical college campus.

Major duties include:

• Guarding and monitoring buildings.
• Apprehending criminal suspects andturning them over to local jurisdiction for booking.
• Monitoring and authorizing entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against and maintain the security of premises.
• Patrolling premises to detect signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.
• Responding to ill persons, hazardous events, or any other calls for service.
• Warning persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehending or evicting violators from premises.
• Writing reports of daily activities or irregularities.
• Securing buildings when necessary.
• Coordinating disaster response or crisis management activities such as opening shelters, special needs programs, and evacuation.
• Conducting night-time disaster drills.
• Directing traffic during special events and providing security for events.
• Maintaining P.O.S.T certification.
• Other duties as assigned.

Competencies include knowledge of state and local laws, willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings, and effective communication skills.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, GA P.O.S.T certification, and a minimum of two years of law enforcement (road patrol) experience.

Preferred qualifications include an associate degree.
