Summary

Job Responsibilities

Disseminate intelligence info to supervisory staff.

Surveil potential threat areas.

Interview and verify photos taken of all new arrivals.

Complete packets on inmates suspected of gang activity.

Assist contraband staff searching cells of suspected gang members.

Monitor inmate phone calls.

Maintain records of confiscated items, including written material with codes and symbols.

Supervise subordinates to ensure monitoring of individuals of concern and policy adherence.

Coordinate with institutional STG committees.

Gather STG-related evidence/intelligence.

Monitor STG populations within institutions.

Represent institution at STG designation hearings.

Conduct inmate STG status evaluations.

Ensure subordinate intelligence staff adhere to procedures and meet timelines.

Assist with duties assigned by statewide STG coordinator, assistant coordinator, or STG analyst.

Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

• A high school diploma and three (3) years' experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.

• A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 1 year).

• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
