The City is seeking a dependable and hardworking Parks Maintenance Technician I to help care for our parks, trails, athletic fields, and recreational facilities.
This position plays an important role in keeping our community’s parks safe, clean, and welcoming for residents and visitors. If you enjoy hands-on work, operating equipment, and contributing to a team that maintains spaces where the community gathers, we encourage you to apply.
What You'll Do
As a Parks Maintenance Technician I, you will assist with the daily maintenance and upkeep of the City’s parks and recreational facilities. Responsibilities include:
- Operate a variety of grounds maintenance equipment to maintain parks, athletic fields, courts, playgrounds, picnic areas, trails, and pavilions.
- Install and maintain flowerbeds, gardens, and landscaped areas.
- Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides while maintaining accurate application records.
- Inspect park grounds, facilities, and equipment to ensure safety and proper maintenance.
- Maintain and repair irrigation systems and wells.
- Perform general facility maintenance and repairs including carpentry, plumbing, and minor electrical work.
- Maintain assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Assist with maintenance of boardwalks, bridges, shelters, and other park structures.
- Support park maintenance for special events when required.
- Follow all department safety policies and procedures.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Work is performed primarily outdoors in parks and recreational facilities.
- Employees may be exposed to heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, grease, and moving machinery.
- The position requires frequent lifting of light objects and occasional lifting of heavier materials.
- Duties may involve climbing ladders, operating equipment requiring dexterity, and working with tools and machinery.
- Use of personal protective equipment such as gloves, masks, and safety goggles may be required.
- This position requires working some weekends, holidays, and special events as part of a rotating schedule.
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One (1) to two (2) years of related experience in parks maintenance, landscaping, construction, or a similar field preferred.
- Valid Texas driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one.
