Workdays & Hours: *Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 pm.* DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Prepares and conducts entry-level office skills courses, General Education Diploma (GED) instruction and literacy or career coaching for City/department employees
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Conducts general and specialized coaching sessions and professional development for instructional staff.
• Develops and adapts instructional materials, resources, and tools to support academic and literacy initiatives.
• Recommends improvements to instructional practices, assessment procedures, intervention strategies, and curriculum materials.
• Creates and utilizes teaching aids such as literacy toolkits, demonstration lessons, data trackers, and multimedia instructional supports.
• Attends professional learning sessions to stay informed on current best practices in instruction, literacy development, and coaching methodologies.
• Supports and mentors newly recruited coaches, tutors, and staff to ensure effective implementation of curriculum and instructional expectations.
• Compiles data for use in a variety of reports, surveys, inventories and studies.
• Maintains, prepares, revises and disseminates department rules, regulations, policies, procedures and other pertinent reference information
• Provides technical guidance and assistance to administrative support staff.
• Performs other duties as requested.
WORKING CONDITIONS There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS No experience is required. Professional administrative experience may be substituted for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERENCES**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6. ** Additionally, prefer a B achelor's degree in Education, Reading/Literacy or Curriculum & Instruction. One year of professional teaching experience, instructional coaching, curriculum development, or training adults in an academic setting. may administer, and the applicant must successfully complete a skills-assessment relevant to job description.
