Description

THE POSITION

**Although there is a salary range for this position, the candidate hired into this position will be hired at the bottom of the salary range.**

This recruitment will be used to establish an open competitive and promotional eligibility list that may be used to fill this vacancy and vacancies occurring in this classification for a minimum period of six (6) months. Performs and directs a wide variety of support duties related to the maintenance of transit amenities and bus stop signage; provides oversight of contracted services related to the maintenance of transit amenities and bus stop signage.

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

Working Conditions: May work shifts on days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:Equivalent to High School Diploma/GED AND four (4) years full-time professional journey-level experience in one or more of the trades, which must have included experience in oversight of contracted services.

Licensing and Certifications:Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Driver's License at the time of application.

Background Investigation:Employment is contingent upon the results of a comprehensive background investigation, including qualifying education/experience verification, social security trace, and a criminal history records review.

Medical Examination:Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician, including a pre-employment drug screening.

1. Ability to inspect transit amenity shelters and equipment for defects
2. Proficiency with AC and DC electrical work
3. Proficiency in sheet metal repairs and parts fabrication
4. Ability to perform preventative maintenance on equipment
5. Proficiency in the use of work order systems, Word and Excel spreadsheets

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical ability to perform maintenance and related work, including operating hand and power equipment; stamina to stand and walk for extended periods of time; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation. Work is subject to performance in extreme environmental conditions and in areas of high traffic volume.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Provides expert level assistance and lead direction of assigned staff on all shifts, projects, locations or assignments. Monitors, oversees and evaluates the work of contractors assigned to the operation, maintenance, pad demolitions and concrete pours and other maintenance and repair duties of the RTC’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations, general market shelters and standalone lights. Maintains detailed records of inspection cycles, correlate data and make trend comparisons to ensure contract compliance. Monitors and coordinates contractor and staff completion of projects, plans and deliverables. Ensures shelter repairs are performed in a timely manner to professional standards/specifications, and in compliance with the applicable contracts. Monitors, maintains and performs journeyman level repairs to metal structures, aluminum roofs, solar collectors and electrical systems. Monitors the performance of the Light Emitting Diodes (LED), performs trend analyzes of battery power usage and charging capabilities; performs standard troubleshooting, replacement and repair as appropriate. Monitors performance of ballasts, bulbs, power supplies, diodes, MPPT and PWM charge controllers. Downloads firmware and new version software to the controllers ensuring efficiency and charging capacity. Performs and oversees the periodic maintenance of the various station and shelter wiring configurations. Works with and interviews contractors to obtain material bids for repairs and projects. Works with Safety and Security, and Security Contractor to troubleshoot, repair, maintain and adjust the BRT security cameras. Operates a variety of office equipment, to include computers and associated software. May perform or give direction in other general maintenance, power-washing and custodial tasks as required. Drives vehicles to work sites and transports material and supplies as needed. Maintains records of activities performed and materials utilized, replenishes supply stock. Responds to inquiries and investigates complaints and provides information to supervisor/manager regarding bus stops and transit amenities. Other duties as assigned.

GROUP INSURANCE - Health and dental insurance is available at a minimal expense to eligible employees, spouses and dependents. The RTC pays the monthly life insurance premium for eligible employees.

SERVICE CONNECTED DISABILITY INSURANCE - Eligible employees are covered by a Workman's Compensation Program in accordance with the provisions of the Nevada Industrial Insurance Act (NRS Chapter 616) and the Nevada Occupational Diseases Act (NRS 617).

LONG-TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE - The RTC pays a monthly premium toward a long-term disability plan for eligible employees.

VACATION - Vacation leave accrual is based on length of RTC employment. Initial accrual is at the rate of 3.08 vacation hours for each biweekly pay period.

SICK LEAVE - Eligible employees accrue 3.7 hours of sick leave for each biweekly pay period. Employees completing 10 years of service accrue an additional .92 hours of sick leave per biweekly pay period.

MISCELLANEOUS LEAVES - Court leave, military leave, parental leave, leave without pay, blood donor leave, education leave, and RTC promotional/transfer application examination leave are available (upon approval) for eligible permanent employees.

RETIREMENT - Full-time employees become a member of the Nevada State Public Employees Retirement System under an employer paid plan.

LONGEVITY PAY - Effective July 1, 2021, permanent employees who have completed 5 full years of creditable service with the RTC are entitled to a one time longevity payment in addition to their base salary. Longevity is paid annually, in a one time lump sum amount, at the rate of .57 of 1% at 5 years.

CREDIT UNION - RTC employees and their families are eligible to join the Clark County Credit Union.

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT - Eligible employees may be awarded tuition reimbursement upon successful completion of pre-approved, job related courses.

FMLA - Employees who have worked for the RTC for at least one year, and have worked at least 1,250 hours over the preceding 12 months are eligible for the provisions of the Family Medical Leave Act.
