Position DescriptionA non-recurring job having an appointment for less than four and one-half months with a nature of work consistent with that found in an office or administrative environment.
Major/Essential Functions- Process incoming medical record requests from patients, healthcare providers, insurance companies, third parties, and other authorized requestors in accordance with organizational policies and applicable regulations.
- Review requests for completeness and validate authorizations to ensure compliance with HIPAA and other privacy requirements prior to release.
- Process requests from legal entities, including attorneys, subpoenas, court orders, and other legal documentation, following established procedures and timelines.
- Prepare, compile, and release medical records in an accurate, timely, and secure manner.
- Document, track, and maintain records of all disclosures in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Protect the confidentiality and security of protected health information (PHI) at all times.
- Communicate effectively with patients, staff, attorneys, and external agencies regarding medical record requests and release procedures.
- Prioritize and manage multiple requests while meeting established deadlines and service standards.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) and document management systems to locate, retrieve, and release information.
- Assist with filing, scanning, indexing, and maintaining medical records to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
Required QualificationsA high school diploma or equivalent with one year of experience in processing medical records.
