Nevada County is seeking an immediate hire of an Agricultural Technician I. This is a temporary position where individuals, with general supervision, make inspections and enforce both provisions of the Food and Agricultural Code and Business and Professions Code. Furthermore, they will normally be working under field guidance of a licensed Agricultural Biologist-Weights and Measures Inspector. More importantly, individuals will perform in areas not requiring certification or in areas where seasonal certificates may be issued by the Department of Food and Agriculture.
Other vital duties include:
An Agricultural Technician (Temporary) is an integral part of Nevada County whose mission is to apply the knowledge of biology to protect environmental quality, support human and animal wellness, and manage pests in production agricultural systems and in residential areas!

This position is ideal for individuals who have graduated from high school with coursework in agricultural or biological sciences at the high school or college level. If you have skills in accurate and detailed record keeping of daily inspections, that's a plus!

Education and Experience Required

Equivalent to graduation from high school with coursework in agricultural or biological sciences at the high school or college level.

Sick Leave:

Temporary County employees shall accrue at the rate of one (1) hour of sick leave for each thirty (30) hours worked. Temporary County employees can accrue a maximum of 80 hours of sick leave which may be carried over from one fiscal year to the next.

Medical Benefits:

Temporary employees whose assignments average 30 hours per week or more are eligible to enroll in County-sponsored medical benefits.
