Sanitation Foreman - Transfer Station
Description
Overview The Sanitation Foreman provides leadership both operational and administrative to Solid Waste crews. An essential Service employee that must be available in times of natural disasters such as hurricanes and tropical storms. Implements and executes job functions by coordinating activities of various solid waste crews, ie. Landfill, maintenance, transfer station, and sludge hauling.
Responsibilities • Supervises crews by: establishing work schedules, approving and monitoring leave usage, evaluating performance, training and counseling employees by initiating disciplinary actions as required
• Oversees daily equipment maintenance by assuring availability of equipment, ensuring crews perform daily pre-trip and post-trip in sections, light maintenance as required
• Reports equipment problems to management and coordinating maintenance with Fleet management
• Ensures daily execution of department operations by making labor and route changes, assisting crews by operating solid waste equipment when necessary and transferring labor to different divisions as needed
• Uses independent judgement and knowledge of department policies, procedures and practices to respond to customer inquiries and complaints concerning landfill and transfer station activities
• Provides full range technical and administrative supervisory functions, such as working with Maximo work order software to generate, input, change, review work order status and other information
• Access's Infor for customers account verification and other data
• Utilizes Microsoft office suite products: Outlook for email, Word for letter writing
• Plans and implements for safety and customer service meetings with assigned employees, monitor subordinates for compliance with all safety requirements
• Maintains accurate records of all employee accidents and incidents by ensuring appropriate documentation is promptly filled out and sent to management
• Operates Solid Waste heavy equipment such as collection vehicles, construction equipment, forklifts, light pickups and hand tools
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge and skills by keeping required license/certifications current
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work • Non Exempt - Full-Time
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications • High School Diploma/GED
• Two (2) years of experience
Certifications, Licenses or other requirements Required • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
Required within six (6) months of hire to one (1) year of hire • Class B Driver's License

Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
