- This is a full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position.
- Area of consideration is limited to on-campus, state funded employees only.
The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary Reporting to the Parking & Transportation Manager, the Events Specialist supports the administrative and operational functions of the Fresno State Police Department (FSPD), including Traffic Operations, with a primary focus on coordinating the department’s involvement in supporting on-campus events, including those held at the Save Mart Center and athletic facilities. The Events Specialist ensures event deployments align with CSU and University policies by creating compliant personnel deployment plans and scheduling event coverage for police and parking staff. The role requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and demonstrated experience coordinating and leading operational deployments in a university setting. The incumbent prepares cost estimates; tracks staff hours, equipment use, and event expenses; manages billing and parking program receivables related to events; and coordinates with allied law enforcement agencies to support event operations and ensure accurate payment for their services.
Key Qualifications - Working knowledge and understanding of event planning and coordination principles.
- Basic knowledge of procurement, budgeting and accounting principles and processes.
- Knowledge of computer office systems and ability to use a broad range of technology, systems, and software packages (Microsoft Office Suite, Google apps.)
- Skill/Ability to:
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills to successfully plan, organize, prioritize, and manage events within time and budget constraints.
- Ability to respond to unanticipated event-related issues with little notice, including reporting to work outside of normal business hours as needed.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform basic business math, including calculating ratios and percentages, tracking financial data, and preparing simple projections.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment to support effective event and departmental operations.
- Ability to independently apply a wide range of policies and procedures, including situations where specific guidelines may not be provided.
- Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, including handling sensitive or high-level interactions with professionalism and discretion.
- Ability to troubleshoot routine administrative issues and respond effectively to inquiries related to assigned responsibilities.
- Ability to accurately create, organize, and maintain complex, technical, and confidential records.
- Ability to track and compile data to support program goals and improve operational processes.

Education and Experience - Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Relevant education and/or experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
- Possession of a valid class “C” California Driver’s License and a demonstrated good driving record. (Any job offers made will be contingent upon proof of good driving records as determined by a check for violations recorded with the Department of Motor Vehicles. As a condition of continued employment, incumbents selected must successfully complete Defensive Driving Courses as prescribed by University regulations related to driving any vehicle on state business.)
- Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:
- Experience coordinating events, including operational planning, and post-event reporting or related.
- Experience serving as a departmental liaison on working groups related to on-campus events.
- Ability to communicate operational requirements clearly to staff, leadership, and external partners.
- Experience coordinating staffing schedules and deployment plans.
- Experience coordinating logistics for concurrent high-impact events.
