Part Time - Ethnic Studies Instructor
Description
BASIC FUNCTION : - Develop and deliver instructional lectures for Ethnic Studies courses up to 10 hours/week
- Organize and teach all levels of Ethnic Studies classes
- Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning;
- Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses;
- Assess Student Learning Outcomes every semester;
- Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees if desired

- African American Studies: Master’s degree in African-American/Black/Africana
Studies OR Bachelor’s degree in African-American/Black/Africana Studies AND Master’s degree in Ethnic Studies - Asian American Studies: Master’s degree in Asian American Studies OR Master’s degree in Ethnic Studies AND Bachelor’s degree in Asian American Studies
- Chicano Studies: Master’s degree in Chicano Studies OR Ethnic Studies
- Ethnic Studies: Master’s in African American Studies, Black Studies, Africana Studies, Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Chicana/o Studies, Asian American Studies, Native, American Studies, or American Indian Studies OR Master’s in Ethnic Studies
- Native American/American Indian Studies: Master’s degree in Native American/American Indian Studies, OR Master’s degree in Ethnic Studies AND Bachelor’s degree in Native American /American Indian Studies
- OR The equivalent

Desired/Preferred Qualifications
EXPERIENCE : Preference may be given to candidates with life or teaching which would demonstrate the clear ability to teach Ethnic Studies to community college students. Physical Demands Range/Step Class I - VII (Based on degree and teaching experience). Salary Range Step 1: $1,377.25 - Step 7: $2,126.79 per unit. Benefits Information
PART - TIME (less than .60 FTE ): Part-time positions less than .60 FTE are not entitled to any District paid fringe benefits.
