DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES : Under the general supervision of the Division Dean, provide instruction in accordance with course descriptions, outlines, class schedules, and Governing Board policies; evaluate progress of students concerning educational matters, develop and assess student learning outcomes, and perform other instructional duties as assigned. Provide a welcome and inclusive environment with diverse students can succeed. Essential Duties Summary
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :• Organize and instruct classes in Administration of Justice
• Provide effective classroom and laboratory instruction using methods and materials appropriate to the subject matter
• Promote and model professionalism as an educator and law enforcement professional; maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Comply with all institutional policies and procedures
• Facilitate student learning by using appropriate teaching methods
• Maintain currency and depth of knowledge in assigned area of responsibility
• Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses
• Assess Student Learning Outcomes every semester
• Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees if desired.
REQUIRED DUTIES :Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Required Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications for instructors in Administration of Justice at California Community Colleges:
• Any associate degree and six years of full-time occupational experience in the related field
OR• Any bachelor’s degree and two years of full-time occupational experience in the related field
OR• The equivalent
OR• Possess a California Community life credential in the subject matter area
