Adjunct Speech Instructor
Description
Description of Duties:
• Provide instruction for the full-range of the speech curriculum that includes public speaking, interpersonal communication, group discussion, argumentation, and intercultural communication
• Support and be capable of coaching a competitive College Forensic Program
• Prepare complete course syllabi and outlines, and work on articulation agreements with local colleges and schools
• Develop and maintain a relevant community college curriculum leading to certificate and degree completion in Speech Communication
• Adapt instructional techniques to accommodate varied learning styles and abilities to support student success
• Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses
• Participate in division, college and/or district-wide committees
• Be committed to, and participate in, the shared-governance process
Essential Duties Summary
• Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication, or organizational communication OR
• Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in drama/theater arts, mass communication, or English OR
• The equivalent
