Description
Woodland Community College is located in the heart of Yolo County about 15 miles northwest of Sacramento. With a rural service area including centers in Williams and Clearlake, the college is surrounded with rich agricultural farmland and is one the largest crop production areas in the state. The area is an excellent choice for quality of life with close proximity to the Sierra Nevada for outdoor recreation, a burgeoning farm to fork movement, and access to the metropolitan areas of Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Woodland Community College seeks a strong, well rounded organic chemistry educator who has demonstrated experience or potential to be an excellent teacher at a community college, and who can provide leadership or contribute positively in areas such as: development of the chemistry program and curriculum; keeping course offerings up-to date and relevant; staying abreast of and communicating the current trends in STEM education; collaborating with area high schools; and contributing to oversight of the chemistry lab. Essential Duties Summary
ESSENTIAL DUTIES : The successful candidate will be expected to organize and teach lecture and labs in all areas of chemistry including but not limited to: organic chemistry, general chemistry, and introductory chemistry. The successful applicantwill provide instruction in accordance with course descriptions, outlines, class schedules, and Governing Board policies; evaluate progress of students concerning educational matters, develop and assess student learning outcomes, and perform other instructional related duties as assigned. In addition, the successful candidate will have knowledge of basic safety protocols for chemistry labs and instruction. Evening, weekend, distance education, and off-campus instruction may be part of the contract. The college offers courses in online, hybrid, and point to point interactive modalities.

- Possess a master’s degree in chemistry OR
- Bachelor’s in chemistry or biochemistry AND Master’s in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology or geochemistry OR
- The Equivalent
- EQUIVALENCY REQUIREMENT : All applicants are required to meet the minimum qualifications specified by the Yuba Community College District ( YCCD ) by the application filing date. Alternatively, applicants must have obtained an equivalency determination from the District before the publication of the Recruitment Announcement. Desired/Preferred Qualifications
EXPERIENCE : - Preference may be given to applicants with a strong background in organic chemistry.
- Preference may be given to applicants with experience teaching chemistry to community college students in an equity minded and inclusive manner.
- Preference may be given to applicants with experience collaborating with science colleagues in developing STEM programs and other college initiatives.
KNOWLEDGE :Preference may be given to applicants with experience in educational grants improving or innovating in the sciences.
COLLABORATION :Preference may be given to applicants with excellent collaboration skills working department faculty, academic support programs and student services, and local or regional employers.
