Overview

The Construction Inspector II plays a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of treatment facility construction projects by providing advanced inspection services and technical oversight. This position is responsible for monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. As part of the Treatment Construction Team, the Construction Inspector II will focus on projects related to water and wastewater treatment facilities, pipelines, pump stations, and related infrastructure. The role requires strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and inspection techniques specific to treatment systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily on-site inspections of treatment facility construction projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes

• Verify that construction materials and methods meet quality standards and contract requirements

• Maintain detailed daily activity reports, including work progress, site conditions, and any deviations or issues encountered

• Document photographic evidence of construction milestones and deficiencies.

• Serve as a liaison between contractors, engineers, and project managers to address field issues and ensure timely resolution

• Monitor contractor performance and adherence to safety and environmental regulations

• Review construction drawings, technical specifications, and submittals to ensure understanding of project scope and requirements

• Identify discrepancies or potential conflicts and recommend corrective actions

• Participate in pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, and final walkthroughs

• Assist in verifying quantities for contractor pay applications and change orders

• Ensure construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards

• Report any non-compliance issues and support corrective actions

• Maintain organized records of inspections, correspondence, and project documentation for audit and closeout purposes

• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
