Description

Overview

The Business Partner will provide human resources consultative support and guidance to assigned business units to achieve the operational and strategic goals of a centralized Human Resources Department.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate, and prepare interview materials for business units

• Serve on interview panels for assigned business units, as HR representative

• Support business units by guiding them through the recruitment process

• Partner with HR to plan and schedule job fairs. Attend hiring events as interdepartmental resource

• Drafts and finalizes department job descriptions, memo requests, offer letters and personnel action forms

• Provide operational support and serves as liaison to City business units to ensure effective handling of issues, questions, and inquiries as it pertains to Human Resources related initiatives, projects and day to day goals

• Work to identify training needs for teams and individuals in assigned departments and monitor the success of these programs

• Collaborate with management to provide guidance on variety of HR related subjects

• Identify employee and department issues and complaints and escalate to management for resolution.

• Perform intake and data gathering for progressive discipline and investigations

• Collaborate with management to provide guidance on variety of HR related subjects

• Identify employee and department issues and complaints and escalate to management for resolution

• Work closely with management and employees to improve relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention of quality employees

• Partner with HR Talent Acquisition division to manage performance evaluation and performance management

• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

• Exempt - Full-Time

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS)

• Two (2) years of experience

Licenses and Certifications

Required

• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Preferred

• PHR of SHRM-CP certification

Basis of Rating

A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications and may request additional information. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
