ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

The mission of the Department of Finance (DOF) is to instill the public's trust and ensure the financial integrity of the County of Marin by safeguarding the County's funds and promoting the prudent utilization of resources.

The DOF maintains the accounts of County government, the County’s school districts, and many of the special districts within Marin County. The Department of Finance also administers the County’s major financial, budgetary, payroll, fixed asset, tax apportionment and revenue collection systems .

ABOUT THE POSITION

There is currently one (1) Full Time onsite vacancy in the Department of Finance Payroll Division for a Senior Payroll Accounting Technician.

Under the general supervision of the Payroll Manager, the Senior Payroll Accounting Technician performs the most difficult, complex and specialized tasks to process payroll transactions within an integrated ERP system. In addition, the Senior Payroll Accounting Technician provides assistance to County and Special District payroll clerks in processing bi-weekly payrolls in compliance with Federal, State and County laws.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate has prior experience processing high-volume payroll in a fast-paced environment, ideally with labor unions, and is experienced using automated financial systems. He/she demonstrates a sound understanding of payroll and financial policies and governmental payroll procedures, including; Federal, State and County regulations.

In addition, the ideal candidate is organized, accurate, and dependable and possesses the ability to communicate to internal and external clients, both orally and in writing; analyze complex payroll issues; sets priorities to meet critical deadlines; and works effectively both on a team and independently.

QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE OF ABILITY TO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Equivalent to completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 quarter units) with major course work in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field AND two years of responsible payroll record keeping experience or related accounting/bookkeeping experience including one year experience using a complex enterprise resource planning system. Additional payroll experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis.
