Description
Job SummaryThe City's Recreation and Parks Department is seeking a Parks Facilities Supervisor! The purpose of this position is to supervise, direct, and participate in the work of all assigned positions and the various aspects of their work. This is accomplished by performing all work duties as needed, assigning crews to work locations, supervising and inspecting the maintenance of athletic fields, and supporting sporting events and activities at various facilities, including the North Recreational Complex and future tournament venues.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Examples of Duties- Performs, plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises athletic field maintenance and landscaping maintenance operations of parks and sports complexes;
- Assigns, schedules, trains, supervises, and reviews the work of subordinates; completes performance evaluations;
- Ensures compliance with applicable safety, maintenance, and programming practices and standards;
- Coordinates responses to emergency calls and determines appropriate maintenance and repairs;
- Completes reports and inspections;
- Works with contractors to complete maintenance and repairs to grounds, and park facilities and equipment;
- Develops and implement plans for the successful maintenance of all athletic fields and grounds;
- Plans, oversees, and serves as project-managing for major athletic grounds and field renovation projects;
- Develops and manages budgets related to athletic fields and grounds;
- Purchases, maintains, and manages the inventory of athletic field maintenance equipment and supplies;
- Performs and supervises the conversion and protection of athletic fields during special events, restoring fields damaged by weather, use, or other conditions;
- Manages and reviews irrigation system performance and initiates changes when necessary;
- Works sporting events and special events to prepare the field and supervise field use;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: - High school diploma or GED and six (6) months to one year of study in a related field; AND
- Five (5) years of experience in parks and recreation facility maintenance, including at least three (3) years as a lead worker or a supervisor or a combination of training and experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of: - Appropriate practices, methods, and techniques of turf management, athletic field support, and landscaping operations.
- The crafts and skills applicable to irrigation systems, pesticides/herbicide applications, athletic field layouts, landscape maintenance work, and any permits associated with this work.
- All equipment and specialized tools used in turf management and landscaping operations.
- Cost projections of maintenance and repairs, supplies, and equipment related to turf management and landscaping.
- Standards of athletic field layout for multiple sports.
- Procurement procedures, payables, and reconciling credit cards.
Skill in: - Verbal and written communications.
- Computer operations, including Microsoft Office products and work order software.
Ability to: - Prepare and interpret written reports and impart them effectively.
- Implement appropriate practices, methods, and techniques of turf management. athletic field support and landscaping operations.
- Maintain proper records.
- Coordinate with public and private groups to develop partnerships.
- Plan, assign, coordinate, supervise, and review the work of subordinate personnel.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinate personnel. peers, representatives of other city departments, and the public.
Special Requirements- Must currently possess a valid driver's license (Note: A valid driver's license is a current driver's license that is not revoked, suspended, or subject to limited restoration or conditional operation privileges).
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and City holidays to support the activities of athletic programs and tournaments as needed.
