Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is seeking to fill one Survey Party Chief II position to lead the Survey Team delivering high-precision survey support across airport projects. This position will supervise, direct, instruct, and train staff; champion safety through regular trainings and job meetings; and, rigorously check alignment and grade to prevent errors.

Strong stewardship of equipment, instruments, vehicles, field notes, sketches, computations, and indexed files is essential, along with excellent communication and collaboration with project managers, engineers, airport operations and maintenance staff, contractors, inspectors, stakeholders, and the public.

LAWA is open to receiving applications from qualified candidates who are eligible for either an Emergency Appointment, Paygrade Advancement, or lateral transfer.

Emergency Appointment

An emergency appointment is not a regular appointment. It is a temporary appointment which does not require that you successfully compete in the Civil Service examination process. The appointment may not exceed one year and must be terminated immediately when a regular appointment can be made from an eligible list. No emergency appointment can exceed one year.
