ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Department of Juvenile Justice Services is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Juvenile Probation Supervisor position. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to lead staff responsible for providing mentoring, daily living, social, and educational support to youth involved in delinquency and truancy. The ideal candidate will be interested in guiding a team of staff who assist youth to reach their potential through meaningful engagement with youth and their families.

THIS POSITION REQUIRES THAT YOU MUST BE AT LEAST TWENTY-ONE (21) YEARS OF AGE AT THE TIME OF APPOINTMENT.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, Education or a field related to the work AND four (4) years of full-time professional level probation, protective service or similar social service casework experience, including prior lead or supervisory experience in a juvenile justice or social service agency. Directly related work experience which has provided the knowledge and skills necessary to perform all aspects of the position may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two years. Must be capable of passing P.O.S.T. pre-agility Fitness Standards as defined by N.A.C. 289.300 (1) (f). Possession of an advanced degree is desirable.

Working Conditions: Work evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts. Work under potentially life-threatening emergency conditions. Work in violent, traumatic or highly charged emotional environments. Specified positions may be assigned to a remote work site at high elevation. May be subject to exposure to blood and air borne diseases.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License. Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid Nevada P.O.S.T. Category II, or higher, certification within one year from date of hire.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted. Must not have any qualifying offense that violates the standards required by NRS 62B.223 and/or NRS 62G.223.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Mobility to work in a court, detention or public safety setting, including stamina to stand and/or walk for an extended period of time, and strength to restrain, arrest and/or eject individuals; drive a motor vehicle in order to attend meetings or visit client homes; vision to use standard office equipment and read printed materials including a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone; physical and psychological characteristics to meet and maintain P.O.S.T. guidelines.
