Job Location: This position will be located at 920 Wildwood, Jefferson City, MO 65109.

The Assistant Controller position is integral in overseeing a variety of fiscal duties, including the department’s grants management and financial reporting functions. The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay
- Perform backup functions for the Controller
- Inspire, mentor, and lead the team in their role of effectively supporting departmental operations
- Plan, organize, assign, and evaluate the work of team members performing a variety of accounting related functions
- Review all federal and state financial reports prepared by the reporting team
- Help facilitate process change with implementation of the State's new financial system
- Maintain systems, procedures, and policies that enable and encourage optimum performance of the team
- Provide technical support and training to department staff
- Utilize Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, Internet, and the state's financial system
- Identify issues, evaluate options and recommend solutions
Minimum Qualifications: - A Bachelor's degree and 4-6 years of relevant experience. CPA or CGFM preferred
- Prior supervisory experience
- Highly organized, proactive and possess strong analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task, manage time, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exercise independence, judgment, and initiative in the performance of their duties
