What you’ll do: The work of a Budget & Policy Analyst work involves researching, analyzing, and making recommendations concerning various public policy issues related to analyst’s policy area assignment. Primary duties include:
- Analyzing budget requests from state agencies for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with standard procedures.
- Developing recommendations for agency program funding and preparing justifications for each recommendation.
- Reviewing various state agency programs in terms of program priorities, expenditures of funds, and coordination of services.
- Tracking appropriation and policy legislation concerning assigned agencies.
- Reviewing bills passed by the General Assembly.
- Researching and analyzing current policy issues relating to assigned agency programs and developing specific recommendations.
All you need for success: Minimum Qualifications This position requires frequent communication with management, other state employees, elected officials, and the general public. The position requires knowledge of:
- The principles and practices of budget administration with special reference to governmental procedures, practices, and objectives.
- Principles and practices of public administration.
- General office software, especially Excel.
- Research methodology including the use of statistics and data collection.
• Ability to analyze and evaluate policies and operations and formulate recommendations.
• Missouri legislative and budget processes and state government
- A bachelor’s degree and 0-4 years of relevant experience. When applicable, equivalent substitutions will be allowed for deficiencies in experience or education. Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.

Salary:
65,000 per Year
