The Position

This is a LATERAL RECRUITMENT for the Correctional II Classification at Napa County. Only those who meet the LATERAL Correction Officer II requirements are eligible to be considered for this recruitment.

Applicants for this LATERAL recruitment will be required to meet the following criteria:
• Achieved a passing score on the California Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) Adult Corrections Officer Examination

• Completed the California BSCC's Adult Corrections Officer Core Course

• Completed the California BSCC's Adult Corrections Officer Supplemental Core Course (also referred to as the 832 Penal Code Course)

Under California Code of Regulations Title 15, gender is a bona fide occupational qualification for the position of Correctional Officer.


The eligibility list established from this recruitment may be used to fill full-time, part-time, limited-term, and extra help vacancies for up to one year.

The Napa County Department of Corrections (NCDC) is dedicated to providing professional correctional services to the citizens of Napa County. The Napa County Department of Corrections has jurisdiction over the Napa County Jail facility; it does not operate under the authority of the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. Salary & Benefits:
Hourly: $46.44 (Step 1) - $55.37 (Step 5)
Annually: $96,595.20 (Step 1) - $115,169.60 (Step 5)

About the Position of Correctional Officer II:
Correctional Officer II is the fully qualified working level in the Correctional Officer series. Incumbents are expected to work independently using judgment and initiative within established department guidelines and procedures.

Position Requirements for Correctional Officer II: To qualify for Correctional Officer II classification, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities. Establish Eligibility List Candidates selected to continue in the hiring process will be required to successfully pass an extensive background investigation, as well as a psychological and polygraph tests.

DISASTER SERVICE WORKERS
Napa County employees automatically become Disaster Service Workers. This means that when Napa County experiences emergencies (earthquake, wildfire, power outage, etc.) you may be asked to pivot from your regular duties to provide critical services to those affected by the emergency (CA Govt Code § 3101).

SALARY -
Salaries are based on a five-step range. Appointments are usually made at the beginning step with advances occurring at six months and the completion of each year thereafter. Salary rates are reviewed annually.
