Job Description

Location : Bartlesville - 5121 S.E. Jacquelyn Lane

Salary : up to $15.74/hour, based on education and experience

Full Time /Part Time : Part time

Work Schedule : Monday - Friday

Primary Hours : 8-5

Position Description:

This position will provide English/Spanish interpreter and translation services to Limited English Proficiency (LEP) clients within Oklahoma State Department of Health District 4 with LEP clients. The position will interpret only for programmatic responsibilities within OSDH and county health department staff members.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience interpreting and/or translating English to Spanish, Spanish to English, English to Vietnamese, Vietnamese to English, or other languages to and from English.

Valued Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of interpreter’s role, ethics, skills, advocacy allowed in health settings, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, human organ systems in both English and Spanish. Knowledge of English and Spanish grammatical rules. Skills in interpreting, advocating for patients, role-playing, ethical decision making and applying medical terminology. Ability to read, write and speak English and Spanish. Knowledge of and ability to apply English and Spanish language and grammar rule to properly translate and interpret. Knowledge of cultural competency skills to incorporate strategies for interacting with people from diverse backgrounds.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Work is typically performed in an office setting with climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise levels. While performing the duties of the job, employees are required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. This position requires long periods of sitting and daily use of computers and phones. Employees must be willing to complete all job-related travel associated with this position. Being present at the office is an essential function of the job.
