ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Information Technology Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Telecommunications Technician position. This position supports Clark County’s enterprise communications by managing mobile devices, auditing telecom expenses, maintaining inventory, and resolving technical issues. This role is key to ensuring reliable, cost-effective telecom services for County departments, and requires strong knowledge of Microsoft 365.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience: Equivalent to two (2) years of college level course work in information systems, computer science, wireless communications or a related field AND two (2) years of full-time experience in the telecom field providing customer service and installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of network hardware, software and equipment. Additional experience as outlined above may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions: Work extended shifts or be called back in emergency situations.

Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Class C Nevada driver's license at time of appointment.

Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment and tools and equipment related to the telecommunications industry. Stamina to remain seated for extended periods, strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
