Position Description

The Fresno County Department of Child Support Services invites applications for the position of Child Support Specialist I. Incumbents initiate legal action to establish parentage, child support, and/or medical support; review cases and payment records for compliance with court orders; take remedial steps to assure compliance; and perform related work as required.

Please note:The c urrent vacancies require Spanish bilingual skills; Spanish-speaking individuals are strongly encouraged to apply . Selected bilingual candidates will be scheduled and must pass a Spanish bilingual proficiency exam as a condition of employment. However, the eligible list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill future vacancies that do not require bilingual skills.

As a condition of employment, candidates' child support case, education, and employment histories, along with any criminal records, will be reviewed. A live scan fingerprint check will also be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must qualify under one (1) of the options listed below:

OPTION 1 :

Education : Completion of sixty (60) semester units of coursework that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system.

OPTION 2 :

Education : Completion of thirty (30) semester units of coursework that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system.

Experience : Six (6) months of full-time, paid customer service experience obtaining and providing information to the public or conducting business transactions.

OPTION 3 :

Experience : One (1) year of full-time, paid customer service experience obtaining and providing information to the public or conducting business transactions.

The following information is in addition to the options listed above:

License : Possession of a valid Class ā€œCā€ driver's license, or equivalent, may be required.

Note : Incumbents must obtain and maintain Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ) clearance as a condition of employment.
