ABOUT THIS POSITION:
We are pursuing qualified candidates to fill Health Program Analyst II positions within the Department of Public Health. We are looking for someone who plans, implements, administers, and evaluates mental health and public health programs.

What will I do as a Health Program Analyst II?

REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:
OPTION I:A Bachelor's Degree* from an accredited college or university in a discipline related to the core business function of the department**.
-AND-
Four (4) years of experience in the analysis of mental health or public health programs***, two (2) years of which must have been at the level of Health Program Analyst I.

Only under Option I will a Master's degree* from an accredited college or university in a discipline related to the core business function of the department** be substituted for one (1) year of the experience, in the analysis of mental health or public health programs***; if the degree was not used to meet the education requirement. The Master’s degree will not substitute experience at the level of Health Program Analyst I.

OPTION II: Six (6) years of experience performing assignments in mental health or public health program analysis***, two (2) years of which must have been at the level of Health Program Analyst I.

LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
PHYSICAL CLASS :
Physical Class II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
*To receive credit for your education, include a legible copy of your official diploma, official transcripts, or official letter from the accredited institution within fifteen (15) calendar days of filing your application/the end of the filing period. The document should show the date the degree was conferred and be in English; if it is in a foreign language, it must be translated and evaluated for equivalency to the U.S. standards. Please submit documentation to HRExams@ph.lacounty.gov and indicate your name, the exam name, and the exam number. Please note, to receive credit for both your Bachelor's and Master's, you must provide copies of both degrees within the timeframe mentioned above.

** Disciplines related to the core business functions of the department may include: Public Health, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Health Sciences, Community Health Education, Public Administration, Business Administration, Administration/Management, Behavioral Science, Social Science, or a closely related field.

*** Experience in the analysis of a mental health or public health program is defined as the study and investigation of issues and problems of mental health or public health program development, implementation, administration, or evaluation and the formation of applicable solutions and recommendations.

EXAMINATION CONTENT:
This assessment type will evaluate the education and experience you list on a questionnaire and assign a score based on a standardized scoring system.

This part of the assessment is worth 100% of your total score and assesses: Minimum Requirements and Desirable Qualifications.

Candidates must meet the requirements to qualify and must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the examination in order to be added on the Eligible Register.

Passing this examination and being added to the Eligible Register does not guarantee an offer of employment.

ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION & VACANCY INFORMATION:
Candidates who passed the assessment are placed on the Eligible Register list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of eligibility . The Eligible Register resulting from this examination will be used to fill vacancies in the Department of Public Health as they occur.

NO PERSON MAY COMPETE IN THIS EXAMINATION MORE THAN ONCE EVERY TWELVE (12) MONTHS .
