Description

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, collect, input and analyze data to meet various local, state, federal and/or program reporting needs; perform independent and complex technical duties in the maintenance of databases and data systems; generate various reports and analyze the output of data to ensure accuracy and integrity; act as liaison between department and external agencies regarding data and data systems; support and train system users throughout the District in the use of assigned data systems

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Perform independent and complex technical duties in the maintenance of databases and data systems; collect, input, analyze and manipulate data used in the daily operation of student instruction and/or department function; develop and utilize systems for data backup to ensure the safety and integrity of data

Generate and prepare data reports for local, state, federal and/or program reporting needs; sort, filter, query and manipulate data to meet reporting needs and to inform administration regarding student instruction and needs; extract and migrate data from one system to another to ensure integrity of data and for backup purposes

Serve as liaison between department and system users within the District for the purpose of providing end-user support and guidance; serve as liaison between the department, school office staff and external agencies regarding data reporting needs in accordance with applicable regulations and/or requirements

Provide training and support to staff in the use of assigned data systems; provide technical support to system users to troubleshoot data errors and reporting issues; coordinate with external agencies receiving data to identify and correct data errors and discrepancies; work with technology support staff to identify and fix system glitches

Perform clerical duties involving independent judgement and action and requiring in-depth knowledge of department function; compile information and prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports related to assigned program/department; establish and maintain filing system; process and evaluate various forms for accuracy and completeness as needed

Receive, open, sort, and process incoming mail containing original/legal documents and respond to office emails

Operate a variety of office equipment including computer, copier, fax machine and assigned software

Communicate with personnel and outside agencies to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns

Techniques used to generate reports and prepare data according to defined specifications

ABILITY TO:

Collect, input, analyze and manipulate data using various data software systems

Query, sort, filter and manipulate data to meet reporting needs

Analyze data systems, and identify and troubleshoot problems and issues

Generate and prepare database reports to meet program, state and federal requirements

Extract and migrate data from one system to another while maintaining data integrity

Perform research, analyze data and produce a variety of reports

Implement a system to backup and store data

Respond to system users, and provide training and support in the use of database systems

Read, understand, explain and implement technical material from manuals

Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with users of varying degrees of skill

Prepare and present complete and accurate electronic and written reports

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Present technical concepts clearly and concisely both orally and in writing

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to: Associate’s degree in data science, data analytics, statistics or related field and two years of progressively responsible experience in database management, data system operations or closely related field

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The duration of the eligibility list is one (1) year unless extended by the Personnel Commission. Eligibility lists established from this recruitment will be used for full-time, part-time and limited term positions.

New employees to the district are placed on step A of the salary schedule. The maximum salary is reached after 3 ½ years of employment.

Recruitments that list Promotional and Open Competitive opportunities may result in one of the following: 1) a dual-certified eligibility list in which internal employees of the San Lorenzo Unified School District are awarded seniority points to their final passing score before placement on the eligibility list, or 2) two separate eligibility lists consisting of candidates on a promotional only list and an open list. In the latter case, candidates on the promotional list are referred to the hiring authority before candidates on the open. However, when less than three ranks exist on the promotional list, the open list will be utilized to complete a total of three ranks.
