The Team...

The Business Development Division is the key contributor to the Port's commercial growth by increasing cargo volume in all market segments and generating incremental revenue by extensively canvassing all possible opportunities. The Business Development Division is a close knit-team that functions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and routinely collaborates with every other Divisions in the Port, and a broad range of state, local, and federal partner agencies.

This is an unclassified (Non-Civil Service) position. Non-career positions typically average 20 hours per week, up to 29 hours a week, for a total of 1600 hours in a year for a maximum of two years.

The Role...

Under the dynamic leadership of the Manager of Business Development, the Administrative Intern will play a vital role in driving the success of the Division through a diverse range of high-impact administrative and strategic responsibilities. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-pased, professional environment. Key duties will include crafting compelling reports and presentations that influence decision-making, coordinating and managing projects from conception to completion, and performing data analysis to uncover insights and trends. This role is perfect for a motivated self-starter eager to contribute meaningfully while developing valuable skills in business operations and development.

SPECIAL NOTE This is an unclassified, "at-will" position. The appointed candidate will serve at the discretion of the Port of Long Beach and can be terminated at any time. In such an event, the candidate has no right to any appeal or grievance procedure under any rule or regulation of the City of Long Beach.
The non-career Intern position typically works 20 hours per week and cannot exceed an average of 29 hours per week throughout the year, up to a total of 1600 hours in a year for a maximum of two years. Flexibility is offered within typical business hours. The assignment may end at any time, but under no circumstances will it extend beyond two years.
