The Automotive Service Writer is a Tier 1 position and can make an immediate impact and add value towards the achievement of these goals.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Automotive Service Writer duties includes but is not limited to:


WORKING CONDITIONS

The position occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional light lifting of up to 20 pounds may be required. There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as gasoline and motor oil.

This is a FLEET Department Position at the Tier I Level.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a High School diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two years of customer service experience are required, with at least six months in field of automotive repair.

A certificate in Automotive Technology, acquired through 18 months of education or training, may substitute for the experience requirement.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
May require a valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's driving policy. (AP 2-2).

PREFERENCES

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6. **

Preference will be given to applicants with M-5 Asset Works Fleet Management System experience or any other Fleet Management Software exposure. MS Office with two or more years experience with Excel. Applicants with experience in SAP functions for requisitions, invoices and receivables will receive preference.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check, obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearance where required

GENERAL INFORMATION

None, however, the department may administer a skills assessment review.

If yes, this position is subject to random drug testing and if a promotional position, candidate must pass an assignment drug test.

Pay Grade 15
