Vacation & Sick Leave

At the City of Buckeye, we understand the vital role that vacation time plays in supporting the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of our employees. Vacation and sick leave accruals begin on the first day of employment and may be used upon accrual. Additionally, employees receive credit towards vacation leave accruals for years of service with other public sector retirement systems nationwide (not including Federal service).

Holidays

The City of Buckeye observes eleven holidays per year: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.

Retirement
This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Contribution is mandatory, and the current contribution rate is 12.27%, per fiscal year.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

GENERAL PURPOSE: Under close supervision, perform basic and routine functions such as providing reception and customer service, receipt and processing of forms/data/records; data input; and file storage and retention. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills; attention to detail; and a positive, can-do attitude toward providing exceptional customer service.

Minimum Qualifications & Position Requirements

Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED equivalent. Two (2) years of skilled water/wastewater equipment maintenance or operations experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience providing the skills, knowledge and ability to perform the required job duties.

Additional Information

Special Requirements: Grade II Certification, from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality in one or more of the following disciplines: Water Distribution, Water/Wastewater Treatment or Wastewater Collection. Grade III Wastewater Collection Certification is preferred. After-hours, shift, weekends and on-call work may be required. This position requires employees to be on-call on a rotating basis. On-call employees must be available to respond to the jobsite within one (1) hour from the time they receive the call. Possession of a valid Arizona Driver’s License is required. Possession of a valid Arizona Commercial Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one in 6 months may be required.

Physical Demands / Work Environment: Work is performed outdoors, in inclement weather and in public facilities.

Reports To: Water Resources Supervisor, or other supervisory staff
