Requirements

Specialty Requirements:

Successful completion of a specialty Mental Health Advocate training program, as certified by the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) programs Preparing Los Angeles for County Employment (PLACE) program amongst other related departmental programs, which prepare applicants with the following competencies:

Applicants must meet the above requirement(s) at the time of filing in order to be appointed to fill any vacancies related to this recruitment.

To receive credit for the specialty program, applicants must upload a copy of their certificate of successful completion of the DEO PLACE specialty Mental Health Advocate training program at the time of filing. If you are unable to attach required documents, you must e-mail the documents to Exams@dmh.lacounty.gov, within seven (7) calendar days of filing online. Please include the exam title and your full name as it appears on your application.

Withhold Information:

Applicants must meet all requirements at time of filing. No withhold will be allowed.

License:

A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to apply an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL CLASS II - Light:

This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

Desirable Qualifications:

Additional credit will be given for experience related to the desirable qualifications.

Examination Content:

This examination will consist of an evaluation of training, and experience based upon the application, supplemental questionnaire, and desirable qualifications at the time of filing, weighted 100%. Additional credit will be given for experience related to the desirable qualifications.

Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher in order to be placed on the eligible register.

Eligibility and Vacancy Information:

Candidates who passed the assessment are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of 12 months. We will use this list to fill vacancies as received.
