The County Administrative Office is currently seeking a Legislative Program Manager to manage the County's Legislative Program and Strategic Grant Services Program. This is an exciting opportunity to perform critical work to ensure the County of Monterey's interests are advocated for at the state and federal levels. This position will act as a liaison between the County and state, federal, and local agencies on matters of mutual interest that require coordination. The individual chosen for this role will serve as a legislative spokesperson for the County and work collaboratively to develop and implement the County's local, regional, state, and federal legislative agenda. This position works closely with the County Administrative Officer, other CAO executive staff, County Department Heads and elected officials, and the Board of Supervisors.

The Eligible List established by this recruitment process may be used County-wide to fill current and future vacancies on a regular full-time, part-time, or temporary basis.

Examples of Experience/Education/Training

Any combination of training, education and/or experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities and required conditions of employment is qualifying. An example of a way these requirements might be acquired is:

Education : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, or a related field.

AND

Experience : Five (5) years of broad and progressively responsible experience in governmental affairs, legislative representation, or public relations involving developing and implementing legislation and working with high-level officials and the public.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The required conditions of employment include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Possession of a valid California driver’s license or the ability to provide suitable transportation that is approved by the appointing authority.
2. Be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and out of County travel to meetings.
