The City of Fort Worth’s Transportation and Public Works Department is seeking a highly skilled and motivated
Street Field Operations Supervisor to join our Street Operations Division, specifically within the
South Asphalt section.
This leadership role requires
extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in asphalt street maintenance. The successful candidate will supervise and participate in a wide range of street repair and preservation activities, including but not limited to:
- Mechanical pothole repair
- Subgrade (base) and asphalt pavement repairs
- Response to street cave-ins
- Asphalt level-ups (hand and machine applications)
- Proper material selection and application for various repair methods
The ideal candidate will possess a
deep understanding of asphalt roadway deficiencies and deterioration, as well as proven strategies for effective repair and long-term preservation. Familiarity with Fort Worth's Street network and common maintenance challenges is highly preferred.

This position requires working four ten-hour shifts Tuesday through Friday and additional time needed to assist with emergencies or maintenance needs which may include working in diverse weather conditions.
Minimum Qualifications: (Mirror official job description in bullet format) - High School Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training related to assigned operations and services
- Four years of related experience
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's license
- Must pass drug screen
Preferred Qualifications: (Hard Skills; 3 preferred qualifications, in bullet format) - Moderate computer skills, i.e., VUEWorks, MobileVUE, Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, other software platforms
- Work zone safety knowledge, traffic control and/or training and Knowledge of
snow/ice/hazardous weather conditions pertaining to Streets Operations
- Supervisory experience including experience writing employee performance appraisals

- Provide direct in-field supervision of crews working on all phases of maintenance operations.
- Schedule and monitor maintenance projects and improve upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain a safe worksite for employees and citizens.
- Ensure compliance of policies and procedures.
- Read engineering plans and blueprints.
- Communicate with internal and external customers.
Working Conditions Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises.
Physical Demands Medium work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
