Description
OverviewThe Larimer County Finance Department is seeking an Accounting Manager.
Join the Finance Department, where we take pride in thoughtfully addressing the needs of our customer departments while upholding the highest standards in financial reporting and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
This position plays a vital role in ensuring the County’s financial integrity and transparency. Key responsibilities include leading the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), overseeing the preparation of the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) and the Single Audit, implementing and monitoring internal controls, and overseeing the management of capital assets.

Schedule- Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (with flexible start and end times)
- Hybrid work option available - in-office required on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be doing:
- Managing and guiding the financial reporting team to ensure a clean and timely annual audit
- Working directly with the County’s external auditors
- Reviewing audit workpapers prepared by staff
- Advising on non-routine, complex accounting matters
- Preparing complex spreadsheets used for analysis and decision making

- A strong background in accounting with a forward-thinking, assertive, and inclusive approach
- Proven ability to build and manage successful teams
- Knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting standards, with the ability to apply them effectively
- Experience preparing or managing an Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)
- Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting tools
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in the management of governmental accounting, a directly related field, or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities in accounting, finance, or business strategy/planning required.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience required.
- Bachelor's degree with major coursework in accounting required.
- Master's degree in a related field preferred.
- Relevant certification, such as Certified Public Finance Officer or Certified Government Financial Manager, preferred.
