HOUSING PROGRAM INSPECTOR (COMMUNITY PROGRAM TECHNICIAN III)

DESCRIPTIONThe City of Long Beach, Department of Health and Human Services is recruiting for one (1) unclassified Community Program Technician III to serve as a Housing Inspector in the Housing Authority Bureau.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIESReporting to a Housing Assistance Coordinator this position will:
- Perform inspections of housing units in accordance with federal, state, and local building codes, and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Housing Quality Standards requirements, including the identification of potential lead hazards.
- P erform re-inspections of previously failed units and follow up on complaints to ensure compliance with building codes and Housing Quality Standards, uploads inspection reports, documents, and accompanying data into the electronic file management system and housing software.
- R esearch policy manuals to maintain Housing Authority conformity to Housing Quality Standards rules and regulations.
- Determine comparable rents and rent reasonableness for appropriate contract rent of housing units.
- Submit written reports regarding inspections result.
- Consult with property owners on housing unit compliance for rental programs.
- Respond to tenant and owner inquiries.
- Complete and submit all necessary inspection forms, including violations of Housing Quality Standards.
- Perform other related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS TO FILE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: - High School diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of full-time professional experience in providing technical support for the delivery of grant related programs, grant related activities, and grant related services.
- College education in Public Health, Public or Business Administration, Social Work , or closely related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. (proof of education required for substitution to be applied)
- A valid driver’s license, or the ability to arrange necessary and timely transportation for field travel.
