The City of Tacoma's Environmental Services (ES) Business Operations Division is seeking a full-time Business Services Analyst, Associate. The position is for a limited duration. This position is responsible for coordination of department business systems and technology projects, primarily through the development and maintenance of an Electronic Documentation System (EDS). The EDS is an advanced web-based system of information customized to ES needs to manage a wide variety of documents, included a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Manual. Information is customized to Environmental Services’ needs to manage a wide variety of documents. In addition, this position maintains, compiles, and organizes technical reports and trains and assists EDS users.

The Business Services Analyst, Associate (BSA-A) is responsible for providing coordination and support to Systems and Performance Management Business Services Analysts (BSAs) by working with employees and subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather information, prepare and complete EDS content edits, verify exiting information, and recommend improvements. The BSA-A may also review and revise existing documents, develop new documents, such as pump station manuals, or conduct analyses or research which results in presentations, dashboards, or other visual tools.

Essential Duties Include:
This role recognizes the significance of data in decision making. It involves collaborating with BSAs, ES employees, and SMEs to develop strategic approaches to capture and present information that is clear and complete, adhering to City policies and procedures and the Tacoma Municipal Code.

Applicants must demonstrate an understanding of cultural responsiveness, change management, government systems, data analysis, program development, research, best practices, and facilitation.

Qualifications

Minimum Education*
Bachelor's degree public or business administration or directly related field

Minimum Experience*
0-1 year depending upon assignment

*Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education

Examination Process:
This is a competitive selection process. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will have their job application and responses to Supplemental Questions 4-7 r eviewed and scored by a committee of subject matter experts, as the Experience and Training Test . It is the responsibility of the applicants to adequately describe all pertinent experience and training. Candidates who pass the test will be placed on an Eligible List for potential interview and hiring consideration. Candidates on the Eligible List will have their application materials, resume and cover letter reviewed in depth. Hiring Managers will select and invite to interview the candidates deemed to potentially best meet the Division's business needs. Candidates invited to interview may also be required to take part in a practical skills assessment.

New employees must successfully complete a nine-month probationary period prior to obtaining permanent status in this classification.
