The Missouri Department of Mental Health is seeking a Deputy Director for the Department. The Deputy Director oversees the Director’s Office programs, which include: Investigations, Licensure and Certification, Children’s Office, Fatality Review, Audit, Constituent Services, Deaf Services, HIPAA Security, and Preadmission Screening and Resident Review. This position reports to the Department Director.

The Deputy Director is responsible for working with the Director and Department leadership to ensure that Missourians with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders have access to programs and services that will enable them to live as independently and productive as possible. The Department serves more than 170,000 individuals, employs over 7,000 state employees, and operates with an annual Department budget over $4 billion.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide leadership to ensure the Department’s mission, values and outcomes are implemented throughout the state.
• Assist the Director to develop, review, or revise initiatives impacting Department or program operations.
• Communicate effectively with Department staff, legislators, advocates, stakeholders, community leaders, and other state agencies regarding Department policies, practices and initiatives.
• Oversee Director’s Office programs to ensure effective operation and staff management.
• Work collaboratively and creatively with staff from other state agencies on initiatives impacting the Department.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities to improve the value of services for Department consumers.
• Oversee the coordination efforts with other state agencies, localities, and stakeholders for the Opioid Settlement Fund.
• Serve as the Director’s designee as assigned on required boards and committees (e.g. Fatality Review Panel, Eating Disorders Council).
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Qualification requirements include at least five years’ experience in health or human services program administration with strong preference for managing complex policy initiatives and personnel.
• At least a master’s degree preferred in a field related to the administration or provision of human services programs, including degrees in Psychology, Social Work, Business Administration, Public or Education Administration, or Law.

Salary:

$143,462.88-$154,593.36 per Year
