Position DescriptionUnder the supervision of a Medical Doctor (MD) or Audiology Doctor (AUD), assesses and treats persons with hearing, balance, and related disorders; including but not limited to hearing aids, cochlear implants, BAHA, balance function assessments & rehabilitation, electrophysiological measures of hearing and balance. May perform research related to hearing and vestibular problems.
Major/Essential Functions- Schedule patients for evaluation, treatment and enter patient information into the computer system.
- Complete proper documentation , including evaluation, Audiology reports, and placement of an individualized care plan with functional goals in the patient's medical record within 24 hours of initial contact.
- Assess the needs of the patients and document the information to provide appropriate instructions to the learner.
- Assess the need for adaptive equipment, place an order for it, and demonstrate its use.
- Plan, coordinate, and provide appropriate habilitative/rehabilitative intervention for the hearing impaired patient.
- Assess and recommend needs for other services and participate in the discharge process.
- Confer with the person(s) most closely associated with the active management of the patient and keep them informed of any additional patient needs, treatment modifications, and/or progress.
Required QualificationsCurrently enrolled in a terminal degree (MD, PhD, AUD) program of which this internship is a requirement for completion of the program
