Pay Range: $26.57/hr. - $33.21hr.
Job Posting Closing on: Tuesday, May 6, 2025 Workdays & Hours: Field Operations is a 24/7 Operation - weekend work may be required. This position is a first responder in severe weather conditions/emergencies which will be subject to work after hours, emergency call back hours, nights, weekends, holidays and will participate in an on-call rotation schedule. This role requires proactive and dependable individuals who can quickly adapt to changing conditions and respond efficiently to urgent situations. Ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems, maintaining the success of our operations team and the satisfaction of our customers during critical times.

Have experience leading utility crews and ready to take charge in the field? Fort Worth Water is hiring Wastewater Field Operations Crew Leaders to supervise day-to-day work on our city’s underground wastewater infrastructure.
In this role, you’ll lead crews in the field, coordinating repairs, inspections, and emergency responses that protect the health and safety of nearly 1 million residents. From overseeing pipe repairs and manhole maintenance to troubleshooting system issues, your leadership ensures that Fort Worth’s wastewater collection system stays reliable, safe, and flowing.

Minimum Qualifications: - High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Possession of a TCEQ Wastewater Collections II license (or higher).
- Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with an acceptable driving record.
- Minimum of four (4) years of hands-on experience in water and/or wastewater field operations.
- Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory or crew leadership experience.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and lift up to 100 pounds.
- Must pass physical, drug screening, and background verification.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with work order management software (e.g., GIS, Maximo, or similar).
- Familiarity with large-scale utility operations and infrastructure systems.
Water Field Operations Crew leader job responsibilities include: - Lead Crews: Provide direction, oversight, and support to field crews performing construction, maintenance, and repair activities related to wastewater collection systems.
- Ensure Safe and Efficient Operations: Maintain the safe, effective, and timely operation of essential wastewater systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and City policies.
- Oversee Installation and Maintenance: Supervise the installation, repair, and maintenance of key water and wastewater infrastructure such as mains, valves, manholes, hydrants, pumps, and taps.
- Monitor Work Quality: Ensure that work is performed to high standards, adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Perform Technical Tasks: Take on complex, hands-on tasks related to the technical aspects of wastewater systems, offering expertise and guidance to the crew.
- Promote Safety and Training: Lead by example in ensuring a safe work environment and provide on-the-job training for team members to meet safety and operational standards.
- Report and Document Operations: Maintain detailed records, prepare operational reports, and ensure proper documentation for ongoing activities and project progress.
- Support Emergency Response: Be ready to respond to emergencies affecting water and wastewater systems, providing effective leadership during crises to minimize service disruption.

Physical Demand Medium work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
