A Sr. Engineering Technician job is available with the City of Fort Worth Development Services Department/Transportation Development Services (TDS). The TDS team reviews plans for all the new development in the City of Fort Worth and surrounding ETJ territories to ensure the plans conform to the City of Fort Worth standards. This includes the preliminary planning, the study phase, through plan reviews as well as coordination with the outside development community and internal City departments. This candidate would be capable of understanding not only the technical aspects but also has the ability to learn and apply the processing side of study and plan submittals.
- The position is full-time and located at new City Hall.
- After just six months, enjoy the freedom of 2 days remote work each week (subject to department approval and based on business needs)
- Depending on the unique design and construction issues, there may be occasional site visits.
Minimum Qualifications: - Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of increasingly responsible technical engineering experience in areas such as drafting, design, and/or survey.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications: - Two (2) years of work experience in a Municipality of Government agency.
- Working knowledge and experience with ArcGIS.
- Experience with Accela Automation permitting software.
- Customer service experience in a time-sensitive environment.
- Experience in Civil Engineering and transportation engineering.
- Experience with development review (platting, building permits, zoning, site plans, etc.,).
The Sr. Engineering Technician’s job responsibilities include: - Work with Developers, Consultants, and internal stakeholders to coordinate and assist with the quality and completeness of submittals.
- Understanding or ability to learn and apply basic transportation engineering principles.
- Dealing with any issues, timing, or other areas such as City Ordinances and Standards.
- Strong interpersonal, and excellent communication skills with the unique ability to be able to transfer these concepts clearly and effectively both verbally and written with the development community and internal City staff.
Working Conditions Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting.
Physical Conditions Medium work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
