Mohave County Attorney's Office is looking to fill a Victim Witness Restitution Advocate position .

We are located at 301 Pine Street.

Our mission is to assist crime victims throughout the criminal justice process by providing advocacy, support, and services. The Mohave County Victim Services team plays a vital role in helping the community by providing support for thousands of victims every year, including trial presence, restitution and compensation.

Victim Witness Restitution Advocate -> Starting salary, $19.13/hr.

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm (Optional opportunity to work 4 day-10 hours per day schedule)
Subject to call-backs or on-call status, and irregular schedules for Crisis Calls.
Working with individuals in crisis.
May testify in court proceedings periodically, including but not limited to contested restitution hearings.
Work is subject to traveling to various Mohave County locations.
Periodic travel to training, meetings, etc. may be required. Travel reimbursement is provided. (Estimate less than 3% out of town travel time per year).
Periodic meetings with staff, law enforcement, agency staff, etc.
Regular interactions with victims via phone, video conference andor in person.

This position does require time spent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping.

The ability to frequently be able to lift up to 25lbs.

Essential Job Functions

• Contacts crime victims to assist them in filing for restitution in criminal cases being prosecuted through the County Attorney’s Office.
• Works with crime victims to determine appropriate restitution requests.
• Works with prosecuting attorneys to insure they have accurate information concerning restitution requests from crime victims for presentation to the court.
• Works with probation offices in filing restitution requests from crime victims and to ensure that payments ordered by the court are made in a timely manner.
• Works with the court to ensure that the court has the current mailing address for the victim in order to mail restitution payments to the victim.
• Maintains timely communications with victims, including but not limited to processing and sending Restitution Reminder Letters.
• Maintains Restitution Ledger.
• Maintain adequate documentation in case file and in case management system regarding all victim contacts.
• Maintain required statistical information for quarterly and annual reports to grant funders.
• Train volunteers and staff concerning crime victim restitution issues.
• Compiles and computes data from files and other sources in preparing reports.
• Maintains and establishes fiscal records in accordance with established procedures.
• Gathers and prepares materials for special reports, forms, policy formulation and summaries at the request of superiors.
• Performs research for assigned area.
• Attends meetings and trainings to represent department as required.
• Cross trains with other victim services advocates to provide cross coverage.
  

Minimum Qualifications

Required Minimum Education, Experience, and Training:

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible criminal justice or social services work.
• OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.

Preferred Education, Experience and Training:

• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and/or Social Science preferred.

• Criminal justice system.

• Arizona Victims' Bill of Rights.
• Applicable rules, laws, regulations, and practices.
• Organization of the department.
• Computing literacy to include use of electronic spreadsheet and word processing applications.
• Written and oral communications.
• Organization of tasks, documentation, and statistical information.
• Computers.
• Communicating and maintaining professionalism with the public, co-workers, and work contacts.
• Effectively perform the responsibilities of the specialty field and the position.
• Work independently on assigned projects.
• Organize and prioritize assignments.
• Work under pressure an cope with varying demands with frequent interruptions.
• Develop working relationships with other agencies and departments to accomplish assigned tasks.
