Job Description General Law Enforcement Training Instructor II 3 Positions to be filledFull-Time Position Bryan, Texas $6,250.00/month The Agency Instructor II, under general supervision will be responsible for training various courses within the General Law Enforcement Training Program (GLET). The instructor will be required to facilitate training in the areas of Law Enforcement, Corrections, and Telecommunications. The instructor will utilize their knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to maximize learner success and ensure overall effectiveness of the course instruction. They will use a variety of media to present course material. The instructor will also modify course curriculum, when necessary, to meet learner’s needs. They will maintain skills and knowledge base adequate to meet current and future instructional requirements. This position will be required to supervise and evaluate student performance as well as competently discuss procedures and regulations and apply all safety measures.
Required Qualifications:- High School diploma or GED.
- Five years of law enforcement experience as a licensed Texas Peace Officer.
- Three years of law enforcement instructional experience.
Required Licenses/Certifications: - Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Active TCOLE Peace Officer License or ability to reactivate license.
- Texas Commission on Law Enforcement - Basic Instructor Proficiency Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:- 12 years law enforcement experience as a licensed Texas Peace Officer.
- 5 years law enforcement instructional experience.
- Advanced Peace Officer Certificate.
- Advanced Instructor Proficiency Certification.
- Firearms Instructor Proficiency Certification.
- Defensive Tactics/ACT Instructor Certification.
- EVOC Instructor Certification.
- ALERRT Level I Instructor.
- Experience in correctional setting and telecommunications.
- Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor.
- Experience on a tactical team with SWAT and/or Sniper Certification.
- Experience in Small Unmanned Aerial Systems Instruction. (FAA Part107 License)
- Experience teaching the Texas Basic Peace Officer Course curriculum.
- Experience in preparing, writing lesson plans, and test preparation.
Physical Requirements:- Ability to support training delivery for up to 8-10 hours/day.
- Some lifting/carrying of classroom/presentation materials.
- Physical conditioning consistent with setting up classrooms, and movement of training equipment.
- Ability to demonstrate and perform defensive/arrest and control techniques as well as safe firearms handling.
- Must be capable of driving long distances and operating truck and trailer.

- Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving a personal or TEEX vehicle and/or flying on commercial airlines.
- This position may require 50% or more travel.
Essential Duties & TasksInstruct Assigned Courses - 70% - Prepares training site as required to support training.
- Reviews instructor guides to prepare for course delivery.
- Reviews power point for accuracy and correct content.
- Ensures all required classroom materials are available prior to class.
- Arrives one hour before the course is scheduled to begin to ensure the room is set up and to greet arriving participants.
- Follows approved curriculum course outline and timelines.
- Performs all course exercises as explained by Instructor Guide.
- Ensures all participants have achieved the terminal objectives of the course.
- Notes curriculum or presentation slide deficiencies.
- Notes any improvements or curriculum updates needed.
Course Development and Review - 10% - Modifies or develops course content to meet changing needs and objectives, including visuals and handout materials in cooperation with the curriculum team.
Instruct Basic Peace Officer Course - 10%- Teaches all aspects of the Basic Peace Officer curriculum to police cadets.
- Follows State BPOC curriculum course objectives and outlines.
- Ensures all practical (hands-on) course objectives are met.
- Ensures participants are tested over course objectives.
- Ensures the course is effectively and efficiently presented in accordance with TEEX and State curriculum.
Administer TCOLE Licensing Examination - 5%- Proctors TCOLE licensing exam for eligible participants.
- Reviews TCLEDDS Detailed Class Analysis Reports for Jailer and Telecommunicator and compare results of licensing exam with course testing performance.
- Provides suggestions for improvement.
Fiscal Responsibility - 5%- Makes sound fiscal decisions in the planning and executes course deliveries.
- Submits pre-and-post travel paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
- Submits timesheets within the required time frame and complete all required TAMUS training within the requested due dates.
Other Duties:- Performs other duties assigned.
