Position Description

The Fresno County Public Library invites applications for the position of Graphic Arts Specialist. The incumbent designs, develops and coordinates production of graphic communications utilizing graphic design software; and performs related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Graphic Arts Specialist candidates must qualify under one (1) of the options listed below:

OPTION 1 :

Education : Possession of a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Graphic Communications, Visual Communications, or a closely related field that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system.

Experience : One (1) year of full-time, paid work experience in graphic communications, commercial artwork or reprographics which involved the use of graphic design software.

OPTION 2 :

Education : Completion of sixty (60) semester units of coursework, including fifteen (15) semester units in Graphic Design, Graphic Communications, Visual Communications or a closely related field that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system.

Experience : Four (4) years of full-time, paid work experience in graphic communications, commercial artwork or reprographics which involved the use of graphic design software.

Substitution : An additional thirty (30) semester units of coursework that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.

In addition to the options listed above, the following may be required:

License : Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent, may be required.

Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months, and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.

Positions in this classification are in Medical Group II - Moderate Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8).
