Why you’ll love this position:The Bureau of Data Modernization and Interoperability is currently seeking a HL7 Data Analyst. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with strong problem-solving and communication skills. This role is crucial for providing technical assistance in public health data collection and ensuring data quality. As a HL7 technical resource, the successful candidate will play a key role in onboarding health care providers and submitters across various public health systems. Through these efforts, this position aims to enhance the quality and volume of public health data. This ensures that individuals, providers, and partners at all levels have access to the best available data to inform decisions and support public health initiatives.
- Serve as a HL7 technical expert, providing guidance on meetings with providers and internal staff to review technical issues and solutions
- Review HL7 data submissions for technical errors and data quality issues, and communicate feedback to programmatic staff and/or reporters
- Assist in daily operations, maintenance, and quality assurance for various public health data systems, including immunization data, disease surveillance data, and syndromic data
- Assist with cross-cutting data cleaning, reporting, and analysis projects as needed
- Assist with the onboarding of new reporters to a variety of public health data systems
- Coordinate with ITSD, vendors, and other partners to test and validate system enhancements or maintenance upgrades
- Assist in developing, disseminating, and interpreting data quality reports for providers
- Assist with various informatics-related projects as needed
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of relevant technical and/or informatics experience and/or approporiate certification
- Basic knowledge of statistical software (R, SAS, SQL, etc.), and ability to effectively use data querying tools
- Basic knowledge of the principles, methods, practices, and procedures applied in public health surveillance systems
- Experience in computer science, public health, public or business administration, statistics, or any data-related field are preferred but not required
- Knowledge of: Health Level Seven (HL7) standards, Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC), and/or Systematized
- Nomenclature of Medicine (SNOMED) standard vocabularies in regard to health systems and health data transactions
- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) skills
- A valid driver's license
