Description
SummaryMinimum Starting Salary Depends on Qualifications The City of Waco Seeks An individual to take on a key leadership role in the Public Works Department, specifically overseeing the maintenance and repair operations.
Minimum Qualifications Required:- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- 5 years of experience with water and wastewater infrastructure construction and maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Class C Water and Class II Wastewater license from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required upon hire.
- Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement required within 180 days of employment.
- M ay be required to become certified for the Respiratory Protection and Confined-Space Entry Program and maintain certification.
Position Overview Under general supervision, plans, schedules, and supervises the daily operations of the maintenance and repair work crews for the Public Works Department.
Essential Functions - Plans, schedules, and supervises projects for the repair and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection systems (W/WW); assigns staff, vehicles, and equipment; estimates materials required for assignments and stages materials and equipment; inspects work projects for compliance to quality standards and safety regulations; prioritizes work orders and prepares activity and summary reports.
- Supervises staff, assigns duties and responsibilities, and meets regularly with staff to discuss and resolve workload, technical, and safety issues; assists with project and operational budgets.
- Supervises the training of W/WW staff and ensures appropriate safety protocols are followed.
- Completes paperwork, forms, and reports as necessary.
- Required to respond after-hours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.
- May be required to work in trenches and in a confined space to oversee maintenance tasks.
- Driving is essential.
