The City of Fort Worth Environmental Services department is recruiting two Environmental Field Operations Supervisors. These positions may oversee day-to-day operations in one or more of several sections in Solid Waste Division including but not limited to: Drop-off Stations, Environmental Collection Center or Dead Animal Collection. This role involves collaboration with fellow Supervisors to ensure effective staffing, operational efficiency, contract management, budget planning, and customer satisfaction.

The Environmental Services Department, Solid Waste Services Division, manages essential programs aimed at maintaining environmental quality, as well as providing garbage, recycling, and waste reduction services for Fort Worth residents; thereby advancing the City’s goal of becoming the “most livable and best managed city in the country.”

Working Conditions

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises. Indoor and outdoor environments; exposure to inclement weather conditions while inspecting various field and operational sites; exposure to chemicals, potentially toxic materials, solid waste debris and water as related to assigned tasks; hazards associated with operating a motor vehicle and related equipment.

Physical Demand

Medium work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
