Introduction

THIS IS A NEW ASSEMBLED EXAMINATION. The eligible list resulting from this examination will cancel any existing list and may last approximately one year but can be extended.

Supplemental Questionnaire: A properly completed Supplemental Questionnaire must be submitted with each application. Applications and Supplemental Questionnaires must be in the possession of the Human Resource Services Department by 5:00 p.m. on the Last Day for Filing. Failure to submit the Application or Supplemental Questionnaire will result in disqualification.

THE POSITION

Under general direction of the Director of Child Support Services, plans, organizes, coordinates, and manages the program activities of the Department of Child Support Services; and performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public or business administration or a closely related field.

AND

Experience:

The equivalent of four years of full-time increasingly responsible professional experience in a governmental organization and three years of supervisory experience in the area of child support enforcement or a closely related field (four additional years of supervisory experience in the area of child support may be substituted for the degree).

OR II
Experience:

Seven years of professional management experience at the level of Program Manager, Deputy Director, or Director, supervising professional level staff, in a governmental organization.

License:

Valid California Motor Vehicle Operator’s license is required.

Special Requirement:

A thorough background investigation, including fingerprinting will be conducted of all candidates who have accepted a conditional offer of employment to ensure they are suitable for Child Support related work. A felony conviction will be disqualifying.

EXAMINATION COMPONENTS

THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING STEPS:

A review of candidates' application to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process. A review of candidates’ Supplemental Questionnaires to determine the best qualified. Those candidates considered the best qualified will move on to the final step in the examination process. An oral interview which will be weighted as 100% of the candidates' final examination score. The oral interview may contain situational exercises.
