Clinical Instructor - Trauma / Emergency
Description
Position Summary As an academic medical center with a rich history of providing life-saving treatment in Southern Nevada, UMC serves as the anchor hospital of the Las Vegas Medical District, offering Nevada’s highest level of care to promote successful medical outcomes for patients. We are home to Nevada's ONLY Level I Trauma Center, Designated Pediatric Trauma Center, Burn Care Center, and Transplant Center. We are a Pathway Designated facility by ANCC, and we are on our journey to Magnet status.Position Summary:Develops, implements, and evaluates programs or educational content for nursing and non-nursing hospital staff. Duties include designing educational programs, assessing staff proficiency in the subject area, developing curricula, and instructing.
Job RequirementEducation/Experience: Graduation from an accredited nursing school and two (2) years of clinical nursing experience.
Licensing/Certification Requirements: Valid license from the State of Nevada to Practice as a Registered Nurse; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Some positions may require certification as a Basic Life Support Instructor or Instructor Certification in Specialty. Some positions may require Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements- Bachelor's Degree
- Previous experience in Clinical Education in an acute care or large hospital setting
- Critical Care clinical instructor (unit based educator).
- Three (3) years of recent Trauma and / or Emergency experience.
- One to Two (1-2) years recent educator experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical RequirementsKnowledge of:Nursing practices; federal, state, and local laws, regulations and standards of care; emerging technology and processes; quality assurance and performance improvement principles and practices; adult education principles and practices; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; age specific patient care practices.
Skill in:Developing proficiency assessment techniques; developing curricula and seminars; networking; performing research; evaluating programs; group facilitation techniques; principles and practices of the performance improvement process; needs assessment techniques; conducting educational programs using a variety of training tools; establishing and maintaining an effective working relationship with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, stamina to remain seated and/or standing for an extended period of time, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or an eligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Salary:
$38.24 - $59.26 Hourly
