The PositionBargaining Unit: Local 21 - Supervisory ManagementContra Costa County Assessor’s Office is filling one position for Supervising Appraiser. As a Supervising Appraiser, you would be responsible for supervising groups of appraisers involved in making changes in ownership determinations, cost estimating, and appraising all types of property.

As a Supervising Appraiser, you will typically be responsible for: - Reviewing work completed by appraisers for conformity to appraisal theory, the Revenue and Taxation Code, and office procedures
- Planning and presenting Assessment Appeals before the Assessment Appeals Board
- Training and providing direction to staff
- Responding to taxpayers and their representatives
- Performing the most difficult and complex high-value appraisals

Minimum QualificationsLicense Required: Candidates must possess and maintain throughout the duration of employment a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of state valid motor vehicle operator’s license will be accepted during the application process.
Certificate Required: Possession of a valid Appraiser's Certificate issued by the California State Board of Equalization.
Experience: Four years of full-time or equivalent professional experience in appraising real property in a California County Assessor's Office, or in a state or federal agency in California responsible for appraising property.
Desirable Qualifications:- Extensive knowledge of Property Tax Laws

Selection ProcessApplication Filing and Evaluation: Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.
Online Interview Assessment: The Interview Assessment will measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the job. In the Interview Assessment, candidates must achieve an average passing score of 70% or higher on each of the competencies, as well as an overall passing score of 70% or higher. These may include but are not limited to Analyzing & Interpreting Data, Critical Thinking, Delivering Results, Attention to Detail, Professional Integrity & Ethics, and Decision Making. (
Weighted 100%).
