What You'll Be DoingThe
Wake County Health and Human Services Prenatal and Family Planning Clinic is located at the Sunnybrook Building and at the four Regional Centers (Eastern Regional, Northern Regional, Southern Regional and Millbrook) offers low-risk prenatal services and family planning services to Wake County residents regardless of race or economic status. The Prenatal Clinic and Family Planning Clinic provide services Monday through Friday with evening hours available Monday through Thursday. We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to become part of our team!
The
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) has direct patient care in a busy outpatient Women’s Health/Family Planning Clinic with diverse, multilingual patient population.
Responsibilities Include :
- Conduct patient interviews, triage, counseling and teaching related to pre-conception, contraception, prenatal, STDs and other women’s health issues
- Administer vaccinations and assist with simple surgical procedures. Make patient referrals and do lab result follow-up; precept and supervise nurse aids and students
- Assist with patient check-in/patient phone calls, processing patient accounts and claims, stocking rooms, and ordering supplies
**Work Hours/Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:15am-5:15pm with an expectation to work one even clinic per week until 7:15pm to make 40 hours**

In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - High school diploma or GED
- Six months of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant
- CPR, CMA Certificate; successful completion of a medical assistant training program through an accredited school recognized by the United States Department Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or equivalent medical assistant certification through on the job training and preceptorship by a RN and successful completion of the certification exam.

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - Experience translating Spanish to English in a medical or healthcare environment

- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with patients by listening to the patient and understanding and responding to identified needs
